Our Typical Student – Ages 13-17

Monuments was created to work with young men who have been burdened by months or years of emotional pain or behavioral issues. For some students, crippling anxiety or depression has been at the forefront, while for others, a past trauma or loss may have kept them from progressing. Our team specializes in providing the highest quality of treatment for issues such as these, as well as for co-occurring disorders.

Typical Student Profile

Typical Monuments students come with one or more of the following diagnoses:

  • ADHD
  • Adoption/Attachment issues
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Grief and loss
  • Learning differences
  • Low frustration tolerance
  • Low processing speed
  • Low self-esteem
  • Oppositional defiance
  • Relational problems
  • School avoidance or refusal
  • Self-injurious behaviors
  • Substance Experimentation, Misuse and Abuse
  • Suicidal ideation
  • Trauma
  • Victim of abuse or neglect

Who do we NOT work with?

While Monuments is designed to work with many young men with complex issues, we do not work with any of the following:

  • History of sexual perpetration
  • Serious assaultive behavior
  • Serious drug use/addiction
  • Serious gang involvement
  • Serious medical illness
  • Diagnosis of a full personality disorder
  • Serious mental impairment
  • Active eating disorder
  • Severe conduct disorders
  • Severe psychosis
